On a trip to Ontario, I took the reference photo for this painting.  The Thousand Islands is in the area of the St. Lawrence River as it forms on the east end of Lake Ontario.  Back in the day, those who could afford it built summer homes here to escape the heat.  Same thing now, I suppose.
